I've actually moved several times as an adult and have faced this problem each time I changed houses. Sure, the layouts and fixtures were different, but the fact remained that I didn't have enough room to hold enough food on hand along with the other necessities like pots and plates. Stuffing my cabinets only made it worse, especially when it was time to unload the dishwasher. How can I complain about my kids not doing it right when I have to shove something in, slam the door, and cringe when it's my turn?

Things have gotten better since I made up my mind about pantry shelving. Sure, my cabinets already had a main center shelf inside of them. But for the most part, that left a lot of vertical room unused. I opted to go with some white wire pantry shelving units to get more bang for my buck. Now I can stack seldom-used coffee cups over cup saucers. Instead of them taking up precious horizontal room, they tuck inside a back corner of the cabinet.

The stuff got stacked on top of itself and frankly made trying to use any of them a nightmare. Since the electric skillet and steamer are short, I can store them on the top of the pantry shelving and place the taller items like the blender and crock pot underneath. Now I can get to them quickly and easily.

To Tarp or Not to Tarp

As a concerned RV Technician, I am totally against the tarping of an RV. If your roof is maintained and in good condition, it will withstand the forces of Mother Nature.

If you simply must "tarp" your unit, build an "A" frame type of structure to repel rain or snow while allowing air to circulate beneath the tarp and above the roof of the RV. A tarp laid on the roof and draped down the walls, is an invitation to dry rot - you want the moisture to escape - not to be held in, as a tarp will do. Also, a tarp will move with the wind, regardless of how well it is secured. This results in chaffing of the sidewall paint, and we don't want to discuss that in this article!

Batteries

Clean and remove your battery(s) and store in a cool place. Top up the water level and check/recharge them monthly. Deep cycle batteries will self-discharge in a month and a discharged battery is not a happy battery. Use only distilled water to top off the water level in the cells. An uncharged battery will freeze in sub-zero weather if left outdoors.

Decorating A Girl's Bedrooms

Keeping a girl's bedroom organized or at the least tidy, especially a bedroom for a teenage girl is more than a full time job. I have 4 teenagers and it seems the girls are the worst. They never seem to throw anything away and their bedrooms are full of stuff that I don't even know what it is or what it's used for. But apparently to them it is a necessity of life and they can't live with out it.

I have found two items that seemed to help with keeping the room tidy and surprisingly they actually use. One is a blanket rack (which they thought was pretty cool) and they do use although the blankets aren't really folded on them, just thrown. The other item was a corner book case.

Buying furniture for the bedroom

I have found that it's very difficult to choose a furniture for an older girl's bedroom even if you have lived with them since birth. When they were young you could never go wrong with a Disney theme or a princess bedroom set, but I guess change was inevitable.

To make your task easier I suggest that you listen to their complaints of why their bedroom furniture is not working and what they think would make it better.

For instance; my girls kept saying that they didn't like the looks of the room and if they had new furniture maybe they would keep it cleaner. After talking for awhile it was clear that it wasn't really the look of the room, but that they had know way of organizing it the way they wanted. It seemed by me buying a shelf unit which I thought was nice, was just adding to the problem.

They said, they needed to have something that was out of the way and still be functional. (Like I hadn't mentioned that to them before.) Let me just add here that I have tried showing them shelves and bookcases for their rooms in the past, but they would just look at them and say - I don't want shelves for in middle the wall or it would just get in the way. I then found a corner bookcase and showed them that it didn't take up much room and would organize a corner that they just had clutter in. They agreed to this type of shelving and it seems to be working well and their bedrooms are somewhat tidier. If you are going to buy shelving for the wall area it should be modular and form part of the bedroom wall décor. Most fit CD's and DVD's and could be used to store their favorites. They can also show off their more personal collectibles on these wall shelves.

If you are buying a table lamp, always choose a modern style over traditional lamp. If the light has three directional bulbs, all the better. Most bedrooms have a ceiling light fixture, you can change this to a ceiling fan that has a light in it. Teens seem to like a cool airflow more than we do.

Bedding, bed skirts and pillows can be purchased a little easier. You just need to go with their favorite color, the hard part is finding a pattern that they like. Stay away from animal prints and wild geometric shapes, stripes are usually a pretty safe choice as are large squares.

To make the bedroom floors more appealing a simple area rug is a good choice you can find out more about contemporary areas here Area rugs are ideal for adding texture and color if you have laminate or wood floors.

Laminate floors in the bedroom also happen to be the best thing for children with allergies. This is also a great mother/daughter project to do. I did it myself with only a few helpful tips from my husband. For a 10X12 bedroom is only took us 2 days to rip out the old carpet and install the laminate flooring. It turned out to be a lot of fun for both of us. Cost was fairly cheap at only 0.00 dollars.

The history of desks is long and varied. Desks have been used as both functional pieces of furniture by the working class and monks and decorative pieces used by royalty themselves and their clerks. As desks have evolved, they have done so both to increase function and to be pleasing to the eye. But the most recent and newest style of desk, for which there was no use 30 years ago, is the computer desk. Using a desk for a computer instead of clerical purposes has called for a lot of design modifications. Let's face it, we do not need a lot of small cubby holes and paper slots anymore. This style offers two work areas, one for the computer and a second, perpendicular surface for other work. The desk should offer some form of storage capacity for discs, peripherals, computer programs, manuals and books, etc. Let's face it, even with computers, there is still the need for things that need to be kept near by. Different desks solve this problem in different ways. Some have drawers and cabinets, others have hutches that rests on top of the desk (sometimes offered separately), and others have specialty racks built in that will hold items like discs. You know what type of extra items you use, so make sure the desk you purchase will provide adequate storage. Though there may be other attributes and features that you desire in a computer desk, these four attributes are key features that have been identified and can be found on quality computer desks.
